Lectio takes your privacy seriously. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
We collect the data needed to operate the service: your name, which comes from Google or Apple when available and may be requested during initial setup if missing; your verified email from Google or Apple; the country you confirm during initial access; uploaded EPUB or text-based PDF/A files; saved passages and notes; reflections, answers and conversations; and reading metadata such as progress and time. The app interface language is stored locally on each device. We do not collect precise location or browsing data outside the application.
Your data is used to provide your library, reading and saved activity, synchronize your account, and deliver AI features when you choose to use them. If you delete your account, we use the reason category you selected to understand product issues and improve Lectio. We do not use your content to train models without explicit authorization.
Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest while your account is active. You can delete your account from Account in the app or ask support to help. Deletion removes your account and its associated data, including uploaded books, reading activity, highlights, notes, and saved answers. We retain only the selected deletion-reason category without account identifiers to understand aggregate trends; the app does not ask for free-text details. The app also removes the local copy from the device; if that cleanup fails, we will ask you to reinstall the app.
We do not sell your personal data. When you use an AI feature, Lectio sends your prompt and the relevant reading context—such as book excerpts, saved passages and notes, or prior conversation—to the AI provider configured for the service. The provider processes that request under its own privacy terms.
At any time, you may request a copy of your data, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or withdraw consent for processing through the support channel in the app. You can also delete your account from Account. Account deletion removes the associated personal and reading data described in section 3.
We use cookies strictly necessary for authentication and operation of the service. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. You can configure your browser to reject cookies, but some features may be affected.
This policy may be updated. We will notify you of significant changes by email or in the application. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the policy in effect.
